The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas!

This year for the holidays we are doing something VERY fun. I’ve created a Christmas Countdown paper chain, with one link for every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every link has a special holiday activity for us to do. It has been a terrific way for us to get a daily dose of Christmas without getting completely overwhelmed.

Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas!

A few of the days on the chain are listed as “holiday movie” time. The one Darah asks for every time is The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas!. This 60 minute DVD is really quite cute (and I say that as someone who isn’t especially fond of The Cat in the Hat!). The Cat, Nick and Sally have a very fun Christmas party, and take the Thinga-ma-jigger on a trip around the world to help a lost reindeer get home in time for the big event. Along the way they make all sorts of new friends and, of course, have a lot of fun.

If your are looking for something new to watch this holiday season, or for something that might have more appeal to younger kids, this is a great choice. You can find this DVD at Target, Walmart, Kmart and Toys R Us for just $9.99.

  1. We always drive around our city and look at all the houses that have Christmas lights up. Some have their whole house done up with lights, presents and lots of fun things to do with Christmas. It’s so fun for my 2 neices. Thank you for the fun giveaway! 🙂

  2. We have many. We bake cookies, buy new ornaments every year, read the night before Christmas and this year we started the elf on the shelf.

  7. My mom gives each of us a new ornaments each year for Christmas. I love getting a new ornament each year and am so excited to see mine for this year.

  15. We prepare all of the Christmas cookie dough early in the week and then bake everything in one long assembly line evening toward the end of the week!

  17. On Christmas, we have baby Jesus wrapped in gold tissue paper and we make sure he’s the first present we open on CHristmas morning

We make Christmas cookies–go up to the hills to look at all the Christmas lights,go to our Church to watch the childrens Christmas program–get up real early to open stockings and the go to Church for the Christmas Story , then come home and open presesnts and then go to family for dinnner and games.

  53. Making cookies. When I was a kid we always had a very elaborate sugar cookie cutting out, baking, and decorating day! I’m thinking until the kids are older I should maybe just do cookies dipped in chocolate and sprinkles. 🙂

  63. both of my girls pick out a new ornament for the tree every year. then when they move out they get to take all the ones they picked ot for their tre.

  67. on chistmas eve I have open house for friends an family with a table set with goodies an hot apple cider,its a drop in so ppl can come an go

  68. We drive around many, many times and look at lights. And we listen to the Christmas cd of John Denver and the Muppets. That’s a tradition from when I was young, only we listened to the record back then. My child doesn’t even know what a record is 🙂
