Stretching Your Post Holiday Budget on Essentials at CVS

January 13, 2014 · by Tiffany Merritt · Leave a Comment

This post brought to you by CVS. All opinions are 100% mine.

Who else has a checking account that is begging for mercy after the holidays? I swear I get an eyeroll from my credit card every time I reach for it these days. It wants a break!

I can definitely back off on gift purchases for the moment, as our first family birthday of the year isn't until May, but there isn't much I can do about the essentials. When we run out, we've just got to replace them!

Fortunately, CVS has recently released (in last Sunday's paper) $51 worth of coupon savings on all Johnson and Johnson brand products.

I saw it as the perfect opportunity to get stocked up on my personal favorite mouthwash, Listerine®. It was also a good opportunity to get stickers for Darah. And by "stickers" I actually mean Band-Aid® products. If you have a preschooler, then you know that those are are the coolest stickers you can get.

Additionally, you might want to know about the You SAVE, we GIVE scholarship. When you purchase any Johnson & Johnson product at CVS until 1/11/14, 10 cents will be donated (up to $100,000) for 35 Nurse Practitioner Scholarships. Interested in applying for the scholarships? Check out http://minuteclinic.com/togetherwecare.

So what about you? What are some essentials that you simply can't go without, even when the budget is tight?

Fuss-Free Savings at CVS on Pampers and Other Road Trip Essentials

December 26, 2013 · by Tiffany Merritt · 80 Comments

We’ve been doing our fair share of traveling over the past month, as I’m sure many of you have, as well. When you travel, do you have any “must have” items for the trip? In our case, we treat ourselves to the following items:

1. A new app for Darah to help keep her entertained

2. McDonald’s Egg McMuffin sandwiches (we’re always on the road in the early hours…gotta fuel up!)

3. Squeeze pouches for a yummy snack for the kids. 4. Iced coffee for Tiffany, anywhere we can get it (McDonald’s, Starbucks, I’m not picky, as long as it is COLD!)

4. Disposable diapers, which make life with a toddler infinitely easier when traveling.

I have a CVS just 7 minutes away from my home, and I actually like to make a trip there before we get in the car and begin our travels. I stock up there on dipes and wipes, squeeze pouches for the girls, and if they are on sale, I’ll also pick up the Starbucks Frappuccios (They taste like candy! Love them!). Once a year, or so, I’ll even get an iTunes gift card there (their gift card selection is awesome!), and that keeps us set for our app purchases throughout the year. pampers and CVS fuss-free savings Recently I headed in to get my diaper bag stocked up, and I opted for Pampers products. Pampers are, in my experience, a very reliable brand, and reliable is exactly what I want on the road. Ever had a diaper malfunction while the child was in the car seat? Yeah….NOT something I want to deal with, and especially not while I’m away from my home and my washing machine. Pampers have an ultra-absorbent core that can withstand up to 12 hours of overnight protection (and I prefer to use overnight diapers for road trips, as well, when I can’t check on Layah’s diaper quite as often). They recently increased the capacity of the diaper by 15%, as well. Basically, it is ready for action! 😉

When I was picking out the wipes to go with the Pampers, I knew I found my match when I saw the sensitive designation. Why? Because my child always has and still does like to put those darn wipes in her mouth! I need as few chemicals as possible! pampers wipes from CVS My bags were stocked with what I needed for our recent trips, and to top it all off, when I was checking out the CVS register gave me a $2 coupon off a $10 purchase of any baby needs. Guess who went right back into the store to spend it? This girl! Being able to save more on the things I need puts a smile on my face. CVS makes it happen! pampers bought at CVS What are your “must haves” when taking a road trip?  Win it!: One Stuff Parents Need reader will receive 2 coupons from Pampers and CVS (one for a free package of Pampers diapers, and one for a free package of Pampers wipes!). Woo hoo!

Gluten-Free Snacks from CVS: Gold Emblem Baked Rice Crisps

October 28, 2013 · by Tiffany Merritt · 1 Comment

Thanks to CVS for providing yummy gluten-free snacks for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

My mother-in-law is in town, (which is an AWESOME thing!) and whenever she is with us, I try to make sure I have some gluten-free snacks on hand. She has a wheat allergy, and has been diagnosed with one for quite some time now. She has told me that the last few years have been SO exciting, as the number and quality of wheat free and gluten-free products on the market has exploded.

I really enjoy finding new products that she hasn’t tried yet, and I have a terrific one for her this time around! CVS stores have their own house brand of food products called Gold Emblem, and they have just launched a line of gluten-free crackers called Gold Emblem Baked Rice Crisps.

These crisps are bite-size and so perfect to have out on the table as an appetizer or just an afternoon snack. They come in two flavors: sea salt and barbecue. And they are priced nicely at $2.49/bag. My personal favorite is the barbecue flavor. The crisps aren’t drowning in barbecue, but have just enough of that flavor to be pretty darn irresistible.

I like to serve the barbecue chips with cole slaw as the dip. Cole slaw and barbecue, after all, are a marriage made in heaven!

If you are on the lookout for gluten-free snacks, or if you just want a fat-free, light snacking option that tastes yummy, definitely swing by your nearest CVS and try out the Gold Emblem Baked Rice Crisps. My family loves them, and I bet yours will, too!
