I consider myself to be a bit of an iced coffee expert. I drink it every single day, and most days I make it myself. I’ve tried cold brew, brew over ice, brewing with freshly ground beans vs. previously ground beans, and by using a pour over brewer.
And with necessity being the mother of all invention, I have also taught myself how to make iced coffee using instant coffee, because there are occasions where I find myself in need (it’s not a want, it’s a need) of some iced coffee and not in a place with a coffee shop or a coffee maker.
And now you know why I have instant coffee crystals in my purse at all times.
How to Make Instant Iced Coffee
What you need to rock an instant coffee iced coffee is some instant coffee crystals, a little bit of hot water, and your desired extras (sweetener and cream).
Start with 1/4 cup of super hot water. You can get that from the lowest setting on your Keurig, you can get it by putting your coffee cup and water in the microwave, or you can get it through a tea kettle. The world is your oyster! 😉
Add a heaping tsp of instant coffee crystals to your hot water and give it a good stir. If you want to add a sweetener, now’s a good time to add that, too (my go-to is the liquid Stevia because I never have to worry about if it will dissolve quickly and because one tiny bottle lasts forever!).
Now it’s time to pile on the ice (as much as you like) and then add your creamer, if desired. It’s perfectly fine that a lot of the ice is going to melt. You created hot coffee that was far too concentrated, so it evens out to perfection. Now take a sip of the best instant iced coffee ever, friend, and never worry that you’ll be more than a few minutes away from this awesome drink again. 🙂
