I am fortunate in my line of work to have met many passionate people with great ideas to help make life a little less hectic and a lot more fun for parents of young children. Many of the products I review here are the physical representation of years of hard work, lots of dreams come true, and lots and lots of heart. Today I’m excited to share with you the work of an author, and he is perhaps one of the most passionate individuals with whom I have yet to work.
The author is Steve Laible and the books he has written are part of the Stevie Tenderheart series. The books are about a little boy who thinks his bed is the greatest place on earth, and he wishes it would go with him everywhere. He has some fun adventures there just by using his imagination a little bit. The books are very fun to read and most definitely capture the attention fo my oldest (who is almost 4). They are perfect for her, because they are filled with vibrant and colorful pictures, yet the content of the books goes far beyond that of a picture book. There’s more to read, so the story is more in-depth and we have more to talk about on each page. Additionally, each book has a companion coloring book, which helps your child get even more involved with the characters in the book and the message being presented, which is that a change of heart changes everything.
Aside from the books, themselves, having a great message and being fun to read, I think the mission of the author is what sets these books apart from the rest. Steve Laible is currently working very hard to contribute Stevie Tenderheart books to the Million Pillow Pledge. This is a campaign that places dolls and books on the beds of very brave children in hospitals throughout the country, as well as any place where there’s a child who might need some encouragement. Through the Stevie Tenderheart website you can purchase materials to be directly donated to many different hospitals, or you can specify exactly where you’d like your books to be donated. Steve will ship the books you purchase absolutely free to the place in the U.S. of your choosing. And he has worked really hard to keep the cost of the books very low for you (just $4.95 each!). What a gift you can give to a child going through a tough time. Steve is passionate about this cause, and wants Stevie Tenderheart to be a beacon of happiness and hope for kids all over the nation.
Additionally, Steve has big dreams to open a camp for children called Camp Tenderheart. You can read all about the vision and plans for this facility here. Isn’t it uplifting to encounter a person in this world who is working with so much passion to help create safe and healthy spaces for children to help them thrive? I’m so inspired! And I hope you will also feel inspired to help support this dream and to introduce children you know to Stevie Tenderheart. The books are really good, and so very affordable. Click here to check out all the purchasing options and consider buying a few for children you know, as well as a few for children you don’t know but who could use a little cheering up.
Win it!: One lucky Stuff Parents Need reader will win a copy of both books (My Favorite Place to Be and Wait a Minute!)

animal welfare
Mine is towards food banks
One cause that I support strongly is our local Crisis Nursery program. This provides parents with a place to leave their child to be cared for in a safe, loving environment, free of charge. One may need to use this if they are called to a job interview, have a doctor’s appt, or are just at their wits end with their kids & need a break.
I have a huge passion for Volunteering in the community and at our local food bank
I care about finding a cure for not only melanoma but all cancers. I lost my dad to it 2 weeks before my son was born
I care a lot about Juvenile Diabetes as my 4 year old daughter has it and she faces so many challenges. I hope someday that a cure can be found.
I care a lot about feeding the children!
I’m all about autism!
I care about the homeless. I purchase hats, gloves, and blankets off season. Then hand them out to the homeless during the winter months!
Mental health awareness and animal abuse.
the Ronald McDonald House
the local food pantry and clothing shelter ….there are many hungry kids right here in america and i believe we should help our own right here before going to other countries…
I care a lot about animal welfare causes, especially trying to get people to adopt from shelters and rescues instead of buying cats and dogs. Puppy mills need to be put out of business.
A cause I care about is shaken baby syndrome awearness.
The causes that I care most about are the ones involving children.
I care a lot about special needs individuals.
There’s so many but my faves are St.Judes,Operation Blessing,Lukemia & Lymphoma Society. The one I help out the most is an organization for the homeless here in the city where I live. My family and I help out with blankets, socks, hygiene travel size products and whatever else we can afford. There’s nothing like the feeling when helping someone who really needs it and not expecting anything in return. The smiles are what makes it worth it. Thank you 🙂
I care about the Ronald McDonald House. I volunteer to make sure that parents have a place to stay when they face a tragedy with their children.
I care a lot about animals, and stopping childhood (or any age) hunger!!
I care A LOT about animals! Puppies and kitties at the local humae society are my loves. I take blankets, food, collars, toys and such in all the time to help! We even adopted our puppy from there last month! I want every stray animal to be adopted and all animals to be spayed and neutered!
We support Give Kids the World – Coasting for Kids
I am passionate about putting an end to domestic violence.
I care about my children’s education.
A cause we support is our local Food Bank.
I am passionate about adoption! So many couples want to have children together, but yet there are so many children without parents….why not consider adopting a child and changing their life?
A cause I care about is stopping human trafficking. It’s a horrible reality.
I care a great deal about helping people who have a mental illness. It’s sad the a large part of society does not recognize this illness as a MEDICAL condition. Growing up, my best friends mother had schizophrenia. Unfortunately, my friend developed the same illness in her early 20s. Very, very sad to see someone you love deteriorate.
contributing to the animal shelter and the food bank is very important to me.
I am passionate about skin cancer awareness and prevention.

Animal Rights!
diabetes is close and dear to me
Hunger and abuse.
I care about domestic violence and child abuse.
Literacy is my cause. I am amazed at how many kids and adults don’t know how to read. I believe in encouraging kids at a young age to read and helping those adults who don’t know how. They shouldn’t be ashamed for wanting to learn…it is extremely important.
My cause is improving life for autistic children.
I love the toys for tots toy drive around Christmastime to make sure the kids have a great christmas. Everyone is already in a very giving spirit at that time and I have found a lot of people (including myself) donating to these types of events!
Our family enjoys helping out at a kids’ camp. My husband volunteered for a week each summer before we were married and now we help out in other ways – donations, work weekends, and enjoying some of their family camp programs.
how these are great! 1. my kids love books, love to read now that my 6 yr old knows how and his younger sister is learning… 2. I love business that give back to those who need help. I have taught my kids since they could walk n talk to always do for others, they always donate their toys and clothing they longer fit to children in need. they love taking their stuff to drop off knowing that other kids will enjoy and love it as much as they did.
I care a great deal about working with individuals and agencies to end abuse and violence in all its forms. So I support local people/non-profits who work in those service areas to help educate and reform from within families and communities.
Even though I don’t care for the restaurant, I love the Ronald McDonald House charity. My family has personally benefitted from this charity and I donate yearly.
