Pesticide-Free Feminine Care Products (Chances are that Yours Aren’t!)

Last month I told you about how Seventh Generation has launched a fantastic site called Let’s Talk…Period that provides really helpful information about ovarian cancer (a must-read, ladies!). They are also donating $1 (up to $10,000!) for every person who signs up on their site to learn more potentially life-saving information. Everybody wins! I also wanted to take the opportunity to brag on Seventh Generation for their wonderful line of feminine hygiene products. Did you know that most tampons have been bleached with chlorine and have rayon in them, which is a common chemical found in pesticides? I don’t want to get too personal, but let’s all just think for a moment about whether or not we think having pesticides in or anywhere around our lady parts is a good or bad idea. Hmm….

I never really knew to be concerned about this issue, but I sure am glad to know about it now, and to make a change over to products that I can actually trust (is anyone else out there freaked out by all the products that actually have cancer-causing ingredients in them? It’s like I hear a new story every week!).

Thank you, Seventh Generation, for offering products that are truly safe for the environment and for our bodies. And thank you for dedicating some web space and some serious money to ovarian cancer education and research.

Seventh Generation: Let’s Talk Period (GIVEAWAY!!!)

I love Seventh Generation. It is a company that is doing well by doing good, and I totally support that! The majority of our household cleaners are Seventh Generation products, and we’ve been very pleased with their ability to tackle dirt and grime of various sorts.

Did you know that Seventh Generation also makes feminine hygiene products? I didn’t know until just a few days ago that they made organic tampons. Organic tampons don’t contain rayon, which is typically treated with chlorine dioxide, a chemical commonly used in pesticides! Yuck!

Here’s another reason that Seventh Generation rocks: right now, they have a program going on called “Let’s Talk Period,” and it is a wonderful site dedicated to informing people about ovarian cancer, the fifth leading cause of cancer death among women.

Seventh Generation is committed to donating $1 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund for every person that signs up at Let’s Talk Period (up to $10,000). Funds will be used for programs supporting women fighting ovarian cancer.
