One of the reasons I hesitated for a long time to get any sort of a smart phone was because I feared that something so expensive would really own me. I’d constantly be nervous about dropping it, or worse, losing it. In the two years that I’ve had my phone, I’m very pleased to report that I haven’t yet lost my phone, but I attribute that more to good luck, and less to the fact that I’m so careful with it. Inside the house, I lose that thing a few times each week. It’s really only a matter of time before I walk away from somewhere in public without my phone.
There’s a company out that called RewardTag that is designed to help you when that situation does happen (and haven’t we all lost something of value before???). There are labels you can put on your valuable items (phones, laptops, cameras, etc.). The person who finds it will see the RewardTag on the item, and may hop online to check it out. You can list on the website what you are offering as a reward for that item, should it ever be lost. That gives the person who finds it more incentive to get it back to you! Remember, not everyone who finds a lost item intends to keep it for themselves (or sell it), but if they have no idea who it belongs to, there’s not much they can do to get it back to the owner.
You set up the site with all the items that you have placed reward tags on BEFORE they get lost. So if and when they do get lost, the finder can easily track down the person who lost the item, and also see that you are offering a reward for its return. Everybody wins!
Here’s a quick video that shows you exactly how RewardTag works. It’s really interesting!
RewardTag loves to work with various organization to help them raise funds. They offer up to 50% of the profits to organizations who want to partner with them. If you are involved with a PTA or other organization looking to raise some money, they are definitely worth checking out. One of their very first fundraising platforms is happening right now in support of a breast cancer charity with a cheeky name: Babes for Boobs. This is a group of women who are raising money to walk in the 60-mile Susan G. Komen for the Cure Walk. If you are interested in purchasing some RewardTags and helping these ladies raise money for breast cancer research, check out their fundraising page here. RewardTag would prefer that you buy through their fundraising site than to buy from them directly, because they want to see this group raise a lot of money! Additionally, every organization that partners with RewardTag to raise money and successfully raises $5,000 will get an extra $1,000 bonus from RewardTag in support of their efforts. That’s awesome!
