28 Cloth Diaper Reviews for The Cloth Diaper Confused!

September 19, 2013 · by Tiffany Merritt · 14 Comments

I still can’t believe that my family’s journey with cloth diapering will be over in just a handful of months. What a ride it has been, and an unexpected one at that.

We have 2 children, and when we were pregnant with the first, cloth diapering wasn’t on our radar AT ALL. My best friend used hybrid diapers and suggested I look into them, but I didn’t pay too much attention. And since my BFF lived far away from me and I didn’t get to actually see the diapers, I had no idea just how great they really were.

One thing I distinctly remember about getting into cloth diapering, however, was how completely overwhelming it is. There are (seemingly) a dozen different types of diapers, all of which have their own language of terminology, and dozens upon dozens of different brands. How do you know which cloth diaper is best?

cloth-diapers getting started

The short answer is, you don’t! What works best for one baby won’t necessarily work as well for the next. But I promise you, you WILL get the hang of it. And when you find something you love, hold on to it!

I always loved reading about the experiences other parents had with different diapers, and reading those reviews helped me find some of my very favorites, as well. Here are all 28 cloth diaper reviews I have done over the past 4 years. I hope you will find them useful as you wade through all the information out there and make your decisions about which brands and types to use when building your stash. By no means is this an exhaustive list of available options, but I think you will find some brands that are very popular, as well as some lesser known brands that are also great finds!

Fleece Diaper Cover from Twinkletoes Diapers

February 9, 2011 · by Tiffany Merritt · 1 Comment

Once you get into cloth diapering and sort of get your bearings on all the different types of diapers out there, you may have a favorite type, but you will likely LOVE to try different styles and fittings, just in case you are missing out on something super cool.

Fleece Diaper Cover

fleece diaper cover Today I’m bringing you something cool that just might be new to you! Check out these fleece shorties from Twinkletoes Diapers! Yes, yes, maybe you have seen shorties before…what’s the big deal? These are side snapping!!! This means that they are extremely flexible in terms of all the ways that you can use them. They will pair well with flats, prefolds, inserts or they can be put over fitted diapers as a cover. They also have a super secure fit around the legs, if your baby tends to get leaks there.

fleece diaper cover This is the first cloth diaper item we own that is made of fleece, and we are really enjoying it. Vanessa, the owner of Twinkletoes Diapers uses Malden Mills windpro fleece, which is breathable, waterproof and will keep you warm, yet it is light enough to wear during the day, as well. Darah seems to be very comfortable in her shorties, and I really appreciate being able to lay an insert in the diaper and be on my way. Sometimes I find myself out of cloth diapers (perhaps they are all still drying, or perhaps I just haven’t gotten around the building them, yet). In any case, I find that my Twinkletoes side snapping shorties are so perfect for those situations, as I can literally throw together a diaper in 3 seconds. I can also have confidence that it will work. We haven’t had any leak issues, so far!

Vanessa also recommends these fleece shorties as potty training pants, since a toddler can pull them up and down just like underwear. As we work towards that goal, I’m so glad to have these on hand. How wonderful to find a product that is useful for diapering AND for potty training!

Buy it!: These fleece shorties are available for $14.00 and are listed in red, black and blue, but you can also email Vanessa to ask about custom color options! Woo hoo! I think these are a great buy because they work and they will be useful for your entire diapering AND potty training journey. Also remember that you are supporting a mom! 🙂

Twinkletoes Diapers: Discovering AI2 Diapers

June 19, 2010 · by Tiffany Merritt · 370 Comments

Bloggy friends, I am delighted to have the opportunity to introduce you to another fabulous mom who has developed a great business that helps her stay at home with her children. Meet Vanessa, the owner of Etsy shop Twinkletoes Diapers. Vanessa specializes in AI2 diapers, and she also has a nice variety of diaper covers for those of you who prefer fitted diapers.

AI2 from twinkletoes diapers Vanessa sent me the cutest AI2 diaper ever, because it is made from Supergirl fabric! When the diaper arrived, it came with really helpful instructions for prepping the diaper before its first use (for those of you who are new to cloth diapering, the vast majority of cloth diapers have to be washed anywhere from 1-8 times before they are fully absorbent, and the number of times depends on the material that is used). For Twinkletoes diapers, the liner only needed to be washed once, and the inserts need to be washed 4-6 times. I’m impatient, so I only washed them 4 times before I put them to use!

After reading over Vanessa’s instructions for prepping, usual washing and general use, I realized that this diaper offers something distinct from the other AIO diapers I use. The shell can be reused all day long, provided that the elastic isn’t soiled. You just unsnap the insert and wipe down the shell, and then snap in a clean insert and put it back on the baby. I think that’s really cool! Her diapers come with one insert, and you can purchase additional ones if you’d like to use the shell more than once before washing it. They are only $3.00. This is a terrific way to essentially turn one diaper into two or even 3 for very little extra money!

Twinkletoes diaper inserts are made with some really cool fabrics: bamboo fleece, suede cloth and ZORB…this fabric is new to me, but it rocks! Zorb soaks up wetness faster than any other material out there. I love it! I have found AI2 diapers to not be as effective for Darah during nap times, because she sleeps on her side and the inserts aren’t quite able to keep her dry at that particular angle. But during the day, they work like a charm and I would highly recommend them. If your baby sleeps on his/her back or tummy, I can’t imagine that you’ll have any leak problems during nap times with these diapers.

AI2 package from twinkletoes diapers Buy It!: If you are looking for a way to get a lot of bang for your buck when it comes to cloth diapers, without compromising the cuteness factor or the ease of use, Twinkle Toes diapers are the way to go! Check out what Vanessa has to offer, and purchase a few diapers and several inserts today! You’ll not only be getting some very nice diapers, but you’ll also be helping a mom live her dream!

Win It!: Twinkle Toes Diapers knows that once you try them out, you’ll come back for more. That’s why they are offering 1 lucky Stuff Parents Need reader the AI2 diaper of your choice from those listed! So generous!

The contest will run until June 29th at 7:59pm CST when a winner will be selected using Random.org. The winner will be emailed and will have 48 hours to respond before the prize is forfeited and a new winner is selected. Open to residents of the United States.
