What I’m Buying Today (Hint: It’s All On Sale, Big Time!!!)

February 6, 2014 · by Tiffany Merritt · Leave a Comment

Affiliate links included. I only promote what I love!

My gift closet is looking a little puny after the holidays, and I also haven’t purchased anything for Valentine’s Day yet. Time to pick up a few fun finds, and of course, all on sale! Here’s what’s especially hot today, friends!

Gymboree just put the ENTIRE STORE on sale (30% off!). Get a jump start on swimwear or other cute spring finds. You also get free shipping if you spend $75 or more. No coupon needed for either deal! 30% off Entire Purchase at Gymboree

Here’s what I’m scooping up before we hit the beach! Chevron adorableness!

Julep, makers of beautiful, eco-friendly nail polish, have one of their best deals EVER happening right now! You can get your first monthly box from Julep 100% FREE! And if you don’t love it (and you will love it…) then you can just cancel. If you haven’t tried Julep yet, THIS is the time to do it…when it’s FREE!!!! I personally have about 9 Julep polishes in my collection, and I love them all!

Julep Maven Subscription - first box free

Until 2/8, One King’s Lane is having a Melissa & Doug Sale. It’s a great time to get one or two items for birthday parties you’ll be headed to sometime this year! But the thing that really caught my eye was that the tiger is on sale! We own this, and it is one of the very most played with items in our entire house! I HIGHLY recommend it! 🙂

One of my very favorite shopping sites, Jane, has a SWEET deal on a statement necklace today, and I’m thinking of treating myself!

jane necklace sale

How’s $3.99 sound for the price?! Which do you think I should get, the round or the teardrop? I can’t decide. So I guess that means both? 🙂 Poke around on the site while you are there…I dare you not to find 12 things you want to snap up!

DaySpring currently has a super cute item that would be perfect for a hostess gift! These hurricane candle sleeves are marked all the way down to $9.99 (originally $28!). I simply love them. 🙂

Kiwi Crate, which is one of my favorite gift ideas for kids EVER has two super cool things happening right now.

Creativity kits for kids!

1. You get free shipping on any $25+ order (use code SHIP25). Yay!

2. A referral program! Once you have a Kiwi Crate, refer your friends. If your friend signs up, they get a $10 credit, and YOU also get a $10 credit. Talk about a win/win! Definitely check that out so that you can earn some credit to the store and hopefully get your next box totally free! I love free, don’t you? 🙂

Sittercity: Need a babysitter so you can actually go on a date once in a while? My family has personal experience using Sittercity (it was a very positive experience, of course!). I highly recommend it to others as a great way of finding vetted sitters. And this month, a 3 month membership is 30% off! Woo hoo!

What are you currently shopping for? Found any great deals online today you’d like to share? Let’s hear it!

I Let My Husband Pick Out the First Day Of School Outfits! (Giveaway!)

August 20, 2013 · by Tiffany Merritt · 181 Comments

This post on back-to-school fashion for girls may contain affiliate links.

Yesterday was Darah’s first day of school. She’s in year 2 of the 3 year cycle at Montessori school, but if she were in a more traditional classroom, this would have been her first day of preschool. I was aware of this fact, and as a result, I teared up more than once while taking pictures of her in the morning.

I thought I was going to hold it together, but I just couldn’t get over how grown my sweet baby looked. Her outfit was beyond adorable, and her socks…well…those sent me over the edge. Yes, I cried at the sight of her adorable socks!!

My friends over a Gymboree were kind enough to send me a gift certificate to get our back-to-school shopping started off right. I was so happy to work with them, as I order things from Gymboree fairly often (who can resist with all those Gymbucks offers, am I right?). But I decided to do something a little different this year: I gave Tim FULL REIGN over picking out something for both Darah and Layah to wear on the first day of school.

Did I lose my mind? Oh no, friends, this was a very strategic move on my part. You see, Gymboree makes is SO easy to find coordinating pieces, since they create entire collections around one theme. I knew that Tim would have to really make an effort in order to get something that wasn’t absolutely adorable. Gymboree makes that really hard!

The socks shown above were just part of the “so cute I cried” outfit he chose for Darah. Wanna see it???

gymboree colorblock dress

I think she caught on to how cute I thought she was in this colorblock dress, because the model attitude started coming out early on in the photo shoot! She’s 4 going on 14….heaven help us!

And while Layah wasn’t starting a new year in school today, she did go to her Parent’s Day Out program, and I wanted her to take part in the back-to-school festivities, so she also got an outfit (the flower dot sweater dress). And Oh. My. Word!

gymboree flower dot dress

I just love how the dresses are completely different, and yet those stripes pull them all together for a coordinated look. The dress is a soft sweater material, which I know will be comfy for a on-the-go toddler like Layah. And those sleeves! The little poof in them! Makes me swoon…

Tim reported back to me that he really had a lot of fun picking out clothes for the girls. He said he loved the selection at Gymboree, the ease of finding outfits that coordinated without being too “matchy-matchy” and he also loved that there were so many options that weren’t pink! 🙂

I think he rocked it out. Do you agree?

Stimulating Activities for Babies: What Works for Me

October 6, 2009 · by Tiffany Merritt · Leave a Comment

stimulating activities for baby

New parents are well aware of the fact that babies don’t come with instruction manuals. But most new parents have gone to to libraries and bookstores to make up for that fact and borrowed or purchased a ridiculous number of books that teach us how to swaddle, soothe, feed and change a diaper. I was definitely one of those moms-to-be who read at least 20 books on such subjects. I am very thankful for those books, because they gave me helpful information to ensure my baby’s basic survival. But pretty much all of these books came up short in one department: stimulating activities for baby! But I found a book that highlights the development of an infant through play and that taught me how to play with my baby.

Enter Baby Play.  I found this book on Amazon and purchased it used (thrifty is SO HOT, people!). I flipped through it before the baby was born and found it to be loaded with the best activities for babies. The book has games for you and your baby organized by age (0 months and up, 3 months and up, 6 months and up, etc.).

When we brought Darah home, we really enjoyed staring at her and holding her. These are both terrific things to do with your newborn, by the way. But then we realized that we had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how to play with babies. I went to the bookshelf and opened to the 0 month section, and found many different things that we could do to stimulate and entertain our baby when she is in the mood to play. Most of the activities include baby play toys that you likely already have on hand (a blanket, a ball, etc.).

I highly recommend this for any new parent who does not have extensive experience playing with babies. Who knows? If we hadn’t purchased this book, we might still just be staring at our baby!
