Special thanks to NCircle Entertainment for providing copies of Here Come the Octonauts for Review and Giveaway. All opinions expressed here are my own, as always.

here come the octonauts

Sound the Octo-alert! Welcome to 2014, friends! It’s a new year, just brimming with the possibilities of new adventures. If you’ve got little ones who love the Octonauts, then get ready for some serious fun in the Gup-B, because Here Come the Octonauts is available for the very first time on DVD starting January 7th. Woo hoo! You can pick it up at Walmart and many other retailers and grocery stores nationwide.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting the Octonauts crew, let me introduce you!

KWAZII KITTEN

A daredevil orange kitten with a mysterious pirate past. He loves excitement and travelling to exotic places.

CAPTAIN BARNACLES BEAR

A brave polar bear extraordinaire and the leader of the Octonauts crew. He’s always the first to rush in and help whenever there’s a problem.

PESO PENGUIN

PESO PENGUIN is the medic for the team. He’s an expert at bandaging and always carries his medical kit with him in case of emergencies. He’s not too fond of scary things, but if a creature is hurt or in danger, he can be the bravest Octonaut of all!

These are just a few of the delightful creatures you will find in this fun underwater adventure. We learned about Octonauts last January, and they have become such a hit with my kids that they made the “best of the best” list for 2013!

You can find Octonauts on weekday mornings on the Disney Channel’s Junior block. But if you are like me and don’t have cable, then the DVD is definitely the way to go! The series has been nominated for an International EMMY Award, and has received nominations for Best Animate Preschool Show in 2011 and 2013.

To get the Octonauts party started, check out some of these great free activities you can print or do online!

  • First up, be sure to color and collect all of the Octonatus Octo-Crew Cards at DisneyJunior.com.
  • Octonauts.com also has a maze, hide and seek, and great coloring activities!
  • NCircle Entertainment also has a great selection of activities to check out.

Free: 21 Disney Octonauts Coloring Pages for a Quick Summer Activity!

May 27, 2013 · by Tiffany Merritt ·

Darah has been all about the Octonauts for about 4 months, now. She already has amassed quite a collection of Octonauts toys. I am summoned almost daily to play Octonauts. But now that summer is officially here and she has longer stretches of time to be at home, I need to have more independent play activities ready to go for her.

That’s why I’ve printed off several different Octonauts coloring pages for her to enjoy over the summer. And all it cost me was paper and ink from my printer!

I thought some of you out there might also have little undersea explorers in your home, ready to Explore! Rescue! and Protect! just like the Octonauts. Here are links to some free coloring sheets you can use when they are getting cabin fever and need something new to do!

Octonauts: Ready for Action, Captain!

April 20, 2013 · by Tiffany Merritt · 7 Comments

Until we attended an Octonauts-themed birthday party earlier this year, my family was completely unaware of the team of creatures that lives underwater and enjoys lots of fun adventures together in the quest to explore, rescue and protect. The main characters are Captain Barnacles Bear, Kwazii Kitten, Peso Penguin and Shellington Sea Otter.

Since our introduction, we have become fans! Since we don’t have cable, we are sticking to online resources for octonauts videos and octonauts coloring pages. We recetnly received for review some REALLY fun Octonauts toys that I wanted to share with you. If you have an adventure-loving child, then Octonauts might be a perfect fit for imaginary play.

Great Gift Ideas for Preschoolers

Darah has been playing with her Octonauts in the area under her loft bed. We have lights strung up there and a blue rug to give the space an “under the sea” vibe, since Darah plays mermaids all the time. The Octonauts and their underwater adventures fit right in there!

Octonauts octopod play set

First and foremost, please check out the Octopod Playset. After Tim put it together, I commented that this is the type of toy that kids always clamored over when we were growing up. Basically this is the Octonauts version of the Barbie dreamhouse. It is their underwater home, and when Darah plays with it, she uses it as the home base for the Octonauts creatures. This is where they bring back the treasures and other discoveries they have made while playing in the ocean (also known as the floor of her room) and it is where the Octonauts sleep at night.

We’ve also been playing quite a bit with the special Kwazii and Slime Eel Playset. There are several special sets like this one offered, and I think it is a great idea to buy at least one so that you can have extra figures to play with around the octopod. Darah is particularly fond of the net that came in this set, as well as the treasure chest.

Octonauts toys

The Octonauts Gup C Playset is designed to be put in water, which is good, because it seems to be a very popular choice for both girls during bath time. One of my favorite features is the fact that you can look through the Gup C to the “ocean” floor and check out what is below. Very fun!!!

While all the toys are getting played with on a regular basis, the one getting the very most use is the Octo-Compass. It has several different buttons that can be pushed in order to hear catch phrases that are often said on the show, like, “Sound the Octo-alert!” and “Shiver me whiskers!” If Darah is playing Octo-nauts, then having her Octo-Compass on hand is a must.

octonauts octopod toy and Kwaziii

Do you have an Octonauts fan in your house? Or maybe just a child who loves the ocean and adventure? The Octonauts toys that have recently been released are certainly a lot of fun, and I’d recommend them for kids aged 3-7.

I received complimentary products for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions expressed here are strictly my own. This post contains affiliate links.
