Best Beginning Yoga Poses for Kids

August 17, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · Leave a Comment

Friends I hope you enjoy today’s guest post! We love doing yoga with our little ones!

Best beginning yoga poses for kids

Yoga has been around since the pre-vedic era in Indian history, which makes it over 5000 years old. The word ’yoga’ means unity, where it combines spiritual, mental, and physical awareness within the self. This is the core meaning of the word, and shows that yoga is so much more than just a regular workout regimen.

Yoga involves training more than just our bodies, it involves sharpening our minds. Practicing yoga can discipline us, allowing us to react differently to challenging situations in our lives.

Introducing yoga to children can be a wonderful gift to them at a young age as it can radically transform how they see the world as they grow into mature adults.

Yoga works by transcending the ego and helps us reconnect with the best of what we have to offer. In today’s digital world, what could be better than yoga for kids to get the best of both the physical and spiritual planes?

Though it might be a bit tricky to get children to start out of their own free will, but you could pique their interest by planning a short vacation on a yoga retreat. The stress of the daily routine can be a big hindrance in the simple pleasures of life like being with family. Imagine a place where you can unwind and unplug from everyday pressures along with your children.

These yoga retreat centers offer special yoga classes for kids and beginners, and it can be a fun way for your children to get introduced to yoga. Here are some family and especially kids-friendly yoga retreat centers to help you plan out your next family vacation, Ibiza, Lotus yoga retreat, and world family yoga.

Now let’s see some interesting yoga poses for children, though it would be best to get a little help in the beginning. yoga poses for kids

Tadasana

Tadasana or the mountain pose is a basic standing asana. Start by guiding children to stand straight and keep both their feet close together, their palms on the sides of their thighs. Keep the heels firmly in the ground.

Gently guide them to tighten every muscle in their body, the legs, the knees, the thighs and the buttock. They should tuck in their stomachs and tighten their elbows. Do not let them tense their necks, instead as them to broaden their chests and breath normally. Stay like this for 20 to 30 seconds.

Tadasana corrects bad posture and strengthens the back. Now ask them to slowly relax their bodies. Doing this every day would be best but you need to do it at least three times a week to get the most out of the Asana. We chose this as the first pose for children as this is very easy, and they will be able to follow instructions without confusion.

Urghdva Hastasana

Starting from the Tadasana position, ask children to stretch their arms over their heads with palms facing each other. Ask them to breathe normally as many tend to hold their breaths without realizing it. Stays put for half a minute and then ask them to slowly bring down their hands and relax. This pose teaches a kid to stand correctly and makes the mind alert.

Vrikshasana

Vrikshasana or the tree pose is the standing asana that improves the balance of standing in tadasana. You can ask children to begin by bending their right knee and holding their ankle with their hand placed on their inner left thigh.

They should then rest their hands on their hips and after a few seconds stretch their arms up. Now let them join palms and stay so for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Vrikshasana can be challenging initially but you can ask children to stand firm and focus at one point on the floor to maintain balance. Ask them to slowly bring their hands down and return to the pose of Tadasana. They should keep their right leg straight and bend their left leg to do the pose on the other side.

Virkhsana strengthens the shoulders and legs, it also improves concentration. So now your kid knows what to do while studying.

Sukhasana

To perform Sukhasana or the pleasant posture, you ask children to sit on the ground with both your legs stretched out in front of them. Ask them to bend their left knee and then their right to pull the legs in.

Let them sit with their legs crossed at the ankles and ask them to clasp their hands together with the fingers of their right-hand dominant over the left.

Ask them to sit straight and perform deep and controlled breathing. Sukhasana is also known as the comfortable posture which is an excellent pose for relaxation and better breathing. It can be easily performed by any child and can be very beneficial for various health benefits.

Here are some important things to keep in mind before your kid starts out their yoga routine

  • Make sure your kid is dressed comfortably.

  • Ensure your child is well hydrated.

  • Instruct your child to be patient while performing difficult postures.

  • Encourage your kid to stretch before the practice.

  • Do not give them a big meal before the practice.

  • Encourage them to ask questions.

Make sure to be supportive of your children, advice them to do their best but then leave the rest to them. Try to demonstrate each pose for your kid and consider joining them for the practice every so often. If your child suffers from any serious medical condition it is best to discuss with the doctor before starting out on any exercise plan.

Once your kid is on board with the yoga practice, you will notice many positive changes in your child’s personality and health.

My Top 5 Meal Replacement Shakes for Weight Loss (and Busy Mornings)

August 15, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · 2 Comments

For about 30 years of my life, I ate cereal almost every single day for breakfast. And if I’m being honest, I also ate cereal at least one other time during the day as a snack, too. But when I did the Whole 30 program 3 years ago and had to cut it out completely for 30 days, it broke me of the habit. But unfortunately, it did not cause me to develop a love for eggs, oatmeal, or other hot/healthy breakfast options.

And so, I’ve been stuck in a major breakfast rut for quite some time. I no longer crave cereal, but I crave having something just as fast to put together. I also want something that won’t leave me hungry again an hour later and that can help me start the day off right without being a calorie bomb, and maybe even help me lose some weight.

Basically, I want a breakfast unicorn. Something that it just too good to be true. meal replacement shakes

Here’s the good news, though: it DOES exist! Smoothies and breakfast shakes have been more successful for me than anything else, and breakfast shakes are the fastest to prepare because they just involve a scoop or two of some pre-made powder and some water and/or almond milk, and about 15 seconds in the blender (go Vitamix or go home…I’ve never for one second regretted a single penny spent on this purchase).

Over the last 3 years, with the guidance of a weight loss nutrition coach, I have tried about 10 different types of meal replacement and protein shakes, and just half of them are keepers. That’s because I’ve learned how vitally important it is to look closely at the ingredient list so you understand what nutrients your body will receive when using the product, as well as what isn’t included. If you are looking for a cheap meal replacement shake, you are often going to get exactly what you pay for: fillers, added sugar, precious little in the way of vitamins and minerals, and not enough substance to actually satiate you and give your body the fuel it needs. I can tell you from experience that the end result with those cheap shakes is that you are hungry and then you go spontaneously eat stuff that you shouldn’t, or you are hungry and miserable and your body switches into starvation mode and your metabolism tanks. The up-front savings come at a steep long-term cost, friends.

So what am I loving? Here’s my list!

best meal replacement shakes

  1. Slique Shake

I absolutely LOVE the SliqueShake from Young Living. A container comes with 15 individual packets and you simply put the contents into a blender, add either almond milk or water (I often do half of each), some ice (if desired…I prefer it with ice) and blend away. It’s flavor is called Berry Breeze and I would describe it as a berry-vanilla taste (it is yum!). It is thin but very surprisingly filling. I drank it very fast my first time trying it and learned not to do that! Sip on it so you won’t get too full, too fast. Slique Shakes are designed to help you feel full and to give you the fuel you need for your morning. I love that it contains the Slique Essence essential oil blend (grapefruit, tangerine, lemon and ocotea) which I have found to be highly effective at helping me curb my cravings and my mindless snacking. Other awesome ingredients include quinoa powder, pumpkin seed protein, green tea leaf extract, black carrot extract, wolfberry fruit powder, alfalfa grass juice powder, and lots of vitamins to get you started. Not including tax and shipping, this product is $3.33/serving for wholesale members. Since MLMs are not the way some folks want to go, I’ve linked to similar products you can find on Amazon in this paragraph.

2. Shakeology (Chocolate)

I purchased Shakeology in early July from my cousin, Shera, who is a Beachbody coach, and I have been very impressed with the quality of this product. Similar to the Slique Shake, I find the ingredient list to be extensive enough to not warrant any additions other than ice, water, and/or almond milk (though it does come with a list of 30 “recipes” to try with it, and they are quite fun!). I purchased the chocolate flavor per her suggestion, and I also purchased the bag of product instead of the individual packets, as there are 6 more servings in the bag than in the packets for the same price. Gotta get the best bang for my buck, because the big drawback of this product is that it is quite pricey, coming in at $4.33/serving (not including tax or shipping costs). My understanding is that you can purchase the product for a 25% discount if you sign up to become a Beachbody coach, but there’s a $15/month website fee included with that commitment, which eats away at a good deal of that discount, so I decided not to sign up for it since I don’t want to order it every month. It’s got a nice dose of protein (34% of your daily need), it’s packed with superfoods, phytonutrients and digestive enzymes to boot. I am set up to purchase the vanilla flavor of Shakeology in September and will be adding it to the rotation, and at that point I plan to place an order quarterly, as you can order monthly, every other month, or quarterly. Shakeology is a referral-based business, so you need to connect with a Beachbody coach to order the product. I do not sell this product but can refer you to my cousin if you need some assistance.

Protein Powders

The other 3 drinks I really enjoy are considered protein powders, and I wanted to make it clear that protein powders are actually not intended to be meal replacement drinks on their own. However, by adding in a few ingredients you can easily turn them into a meal that will leave you satisfied for quite some time. For the drinks below, I typically add in a chlorella pellet, a probiotic, 1/2 tsp Vitamin C and 1 tsp of multivitamin powder I have on hand to kick it up a notch in the health department. To turn it into a meal I will add in some heart healthy fats such as avocado or coconut oil and a banana or other fruit, a bit of spinach or kale, some oats, hemp hearts or chia seeds, just depending on my mood. Switch it up to see what satisfies you the most!

3. Orgain Organic Protein Plant-Based Powder

I found this gem while researching for some more affordable alternatives to Shakeology products. Make no mistake, there are plenty of options that are cheaper, but there are precious few that can come close to what Shakeology offers in terms of nutritional content and good flavor. Orgain Organic Protein Powder provides the best alternative that I can find, and so it is in my regular rotation now (along with Shakeology, because I believe it is the best on the market and is worth the price, though I can’t afford to drink it every single day). The price fluctuates on Amazon, but it usually hovers around $1.11 per serving (not counting the other ingredients I add). The taste is quite excellent; a smidge grainy but not enough to override the nice price point. The Stevia is not not at all overpowering, either. This morning beverage requires a bit more effort than the first two shakes I featured, but I think it’s worth the extra work and it has a spot in my regular rotation.

4 (and 5). Young Living Pure Protein Complete (Chocolate and Vanilla)

I’ve been using Young Living Pure Protein Complete in Vanilla Spice for several months now, primarily as an after-school snack for me and my girls. The three of us split one serving and it helps us power through until dinner at 5. But I’ve also started to include it as a great breakfast option now that I’ve learned how to make it more of a meal replacement by adding in a few key things. You will be hard-pressed to find a better tasting vanilla protein powder, friends. It is SO delicious! And based on my success with the vanilla flavor, I have also purchased chocolate and it has become a fast favorite around here. Young Living has nailed it with the taste, and they have thoughtfully put together the ingredients to go beyond strictly protein (which, by the way, one serving has a whopping 50% of your daily protein need!). You’ll also find essential amino acids, as well as ancient peat and apple extract which support ATP production (the energy currency of the body). The cost for wholesale members is $3.60/serving, though customers who order YL products monthly will enjoy discounts in the form of product credit, in this case bringing the total cost down to $3.03/serving. Again, if MLM stuff is not your thing, but the sound of vanilla spice is intriguing, I recommend going for the Pumpkin Spice protein powder on Amazon.

The Danish Way of Reframing and How It Works with Children

August 10, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · 1 Comment

Enjoy today’s guest post. It’s fascinating! 🙂

The Danish Way of Reframing and How It Works with Children

danish parenting

Reframing with children is about the adult helping the child to shift focus from what they think they can’t do to what they can do. The adult helps the child see situations from different angles and gets them to focus on the less negative outcomes or conclusions. With practice, this can become a default setting—for both parent and child.

When you or your children use limiting language like “I hate this,” “I can’t do it,” “I am not good at that,” and so on, you create a negative storyline. The plot may have us convinced that we aren’t good at anything or we are doing everything wrong. The more a child is told limiting stories about “how he is” or how he should do or feel things in various situations, they begin to build coping strategies based on a distrust of their own abilities in the face of new challenges. “She isn’t very good at sports” “He is so messy”; “She is too sensitive.” These are all very defining. The more of these children get, the more negative conclusions about themselves they get.

To reduce the problem, it helps to find and create a different narrative for your children. Leading them to a new, broader or more ambiguous picture about themselves and the world around them helps them to reframe. And this skill will transfer over into how they learn to see and interpret life and others as well.

In Iben’s practice as a narrative psychotherapist, she focuses a lot on reframing and, even more in-depth, on “reauthoring.” She helps people look at the beliefs they have about themselves and the beliefs they put onto their kids without realizing it. Saying things like “He is antisocial,” “She isn’t very academic,” “He is terrible at math,” or “She is so selfish,” are all statements that become behavior your children try to make sense of and identify with. Children can hear you say these things much more often than parents realize they can. Soon, they believe that it must be how they are. When new behavior doesn’t fit into this label, they don’t even try to make sense of it because they have already identified themselves as being uncoordinated, shy, or terrible at math.

The language we use is extremely powerful. It is the frame through which we perceive and describe ourselves and our picture of the world. Allan Holmgren, a well-known Danish psychologist, believes that our reality is created in the language we use. All change involves a change in language. A problem is only a problem if it is referred to as a problem.

The Danish way of reframing

Danes, on the whole, use less limiting language and don’t tell children how they are or what they think they should do or feel in different situations. You don’t hear a lot of adult opinions being placed on children. “You shouldn’t be like that.” “Don’t cry.” “You should be happy!” “He is mean!” “He shouldn’t be like that.” “You should tell him next time!”

They tend to focus more on using supporting language, which leads children to understand the reasons for their emotions and actions. If they are upset or angry, for example, they try to help a child become aware of why they feel that way rather than saying how they should or shouldn’t be feeling.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“You look like something is wrong—is there?”

“Yeah.”

“What’s going on?”

“I don´t know.”

“Are you sad? Angry? Happy?”

“I am sad.”

“Why do you feel sad?”

“I am sad because Gary took my doll at playtime.”

“He took your doll. Why do you think he took your doll?”

“Because he is mean.”

“You think he is mean? Is Gary always mean?”

“Yes.”

“But last week you said you played a lot with Gary, right?”

“Yes.”

“Was he mean then?”

“No.”

“Ok, so sometimes Gary is nice?”

“Yes. Sometimes he is nice.”

They are good at helping their children conceptualize their emotions and then guiding them into finding something more constructive, instead of a disparaging or limited belief. This is the heart of reframing.

“So what happened when he took your doll?”

“I cried.”

“So you were sad he took your doll. I can understand that. What do you think you could do differently next time if Gary takes your doll so you won’t be sad?”

“I can tell him to give it back. Or I can tell the teacher.”

“I think telling him to give it back sounds like a good solution. Does Gary like to play with dolls?”

“Sometimes.”

“Is there anything else you could do other than ask for it back?”

“Maybe we could play together with the dolls.”

“That sounds like a great solution. We know Gary is actually a sweet boy so next time you can ask if he wants to play dolls too.”

“Yes!”

Finding the brighter side of things can be done with all kinds of situations, not only with people. With practice it becomes much easier to scan a scene and find the hidden details that reframe a situation into something more constructive. It can even be fun to do.

Once a child finds a better alternative storyline, try to repeat it so it sticks. But the solution should ultimately come from the child herself. This builds real self-esteem because they become the master of their own emotional responses. They aren’t told how to feel and act.

If we hold on to the good in people, to separate actions from the person, we teach our children that we forgive them when they themselves misbehave. Imagine if we had said that what Gary did was
ridiculous and mean. Children will remember that. When it’s our own child who is doing something similar next time, they know that we judge. If we trust other people and know how to forgive, we teach our children that we also forgive them when they misbehave. If we maintain that it is human to fail, and that we can see other positive things despite that truth, our children will also be gentler on themselves when they fail.

Find It! Awesome Contained Adventure Game for Travel or Quiet Time

August 9, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · Leave a Comment

Every time we are preparing for a long car trip, my husband and I seem to struggle a bit to come up with things to pack for the kids to play. The iPad is an obvious choice, but we don’t want them watching videos for 5 straight hours, so we need some other activities. We usually pack a coloring book for each child and some crayons, and we also pack some smaller stuffed animals or figurines (such as My Little Pony). But all of these items, for the most part, seem to only hold their attention for about 1/10th as long as we had hoped they would.

The struggle is very, very real.

So when Find It! Games reached out to me to tell me about some of their concentration building games, I was very intrigued. Something that will actually hold a child’s attention for a long period of time? I’ll be the judge of that.

find it mythical adventure

We were sent the Find It! Mythical Creatures edition, and it’s a tube filled with tiny beads, as well as 41 hidden treasures waiting to be found. The list alone will be fun to work through, as you will likely have to look up a few of them online just to know what they look like! Here’s the list of what you’ll find inside every tube:

  • Basilisk
  • Bigfoot
  • Centaur
  • Cerberus
  • Chupacabra
  • Coin for Charon
  • Cupid’s Arrow
  • Cyclops Eye
  • Dragon
  • Elf Hat
  • Fairy
  • Gargoyle
  • Genie’s Lamp
  • Giant
  • Gnome
  • Graeae’s  Tooth
  • Griffin
  • Harpy
  • Hippocampus
  • Hippogriff
  • Jackalope
  • Jersey Devil
  • Kraken
  • Leprechaun Gold Coin
  • Loch Ness
  • Manticore
  • Medusa
  • Mermaid
  • Minotaur
  • Mothman Eye
  • Mystery Item
  • Pegasus
  • Penny
  • Phoenix Feather
  • Salamander
  • Silver Bullet
  • Sphinx
  • Tree Spirit
  • Troll
  • Uicorn
  • Vampire Bat

Once you understand what you are looking for, the fun really begins! I have to say, the kids actually will sit still for quite some time seeking out the different items! This makes it the absolute perfect item to break out on long car trips or even plane trips, as it will fit inside a kid’s backpack as part of the carry-on. I also think it’s a great option for quiet time (which is what I call nap time now that my kids don’t nap anymore…mama still needs 20 minutes of quiet!). I’ve reached for it a few times, myself. It’s really fun to sit down and just search for a bit!

The Ultimate List of Pokemon Halloween Costumes

August 1, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · 6 Comments

Affiliate links may be included.

Pokemon Go has completely blown up around the world, and that means that Pokemon Halloween costumes are going to be THE thing to wear this year. The good news is that unlike the few years that Frozen dominated the scene and every third trick-or-treater was either Anna, Elsa or Olaf, there’s a heck of a lot more variety in the world of Pokemon.

I’m making a list of the Pokemon characters and trainers, and I have to be honest, this is a big undertaking! I’m adding more content every single day and as more costumes become available I will do my best to keep this list updated. I have no doubts that costume companies and Etsy store owners are frantically making as much Pokemon as they can in light of the incredible hit of the app. At this point, in many cases shirts are about as close to a costume as I can find. Hopefully as Halloween draws closer I’ll find some new actual costumes for many of the characters! Also please note the sizes when reviewing costumes. Some items are sized for adults, and some are sized for children. With the DIY ideas, you should be able to modify things fairly easily if I’m showing options for an adult and you need a child, or vice versa. And if you need extra help, let me know and I’ll help you hunt!

If you know of a costume that I haven’t linked to or couldn’t find what you were looking for here please let me know in the comments so that I can get it added for future readers.

Friend it Forward with My Little Pony! Mid-Season Premiere and Donation Opp

July 30, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · Leave a Comment

Any My Little Pony fans out there? We LOVE MLP, and are even currently reading the Adventures of Daring Do, which as you may know is Rainbow Dash’s favorite book series. I don’t blame her; they are super fun!

My_Little_Pony_Friendship_Day

Today (July 30th) is the mid-season premiere of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, airing at 11:30am EST on Discovery Family Channel. It will be followed by a mini-marathon of friendship-themed episodes. No cable? No worries! The episodes will be available on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon starting July 31st.

How to #FrienditForward

Between now and August 31st, Hasbro is going to be looking for acts of friendship online through social media posts that are tagged with #FriendshipisMagic and #FrienditForward. If you post something with those two hashtags, Hasbro will make a $1 donation (up to $50,000) to generationOn, which is the youth division of Points of Light. On this website you can also find helpful tools and resources to engage in acts of friendship through service opportunities.

Get Inspired

Need a little inspiration for your act of friendship? Look to your pony friends for some ideas! Here are some of the things that your favorite characters might be doing today and that you could do, too!

  • PINKIE PIE: Make a special gift for a friend’s birthday!
  • FLUTTERSHY: Offer to take your friend’s pet out for a walk!
  • RARITY: Let a friend borrow your favorite outfit for a special occasion!
  • APPLEJACK: Bake a delicious apple pie for a friend!
  • TWILIGHT SPARKLE: Create a list of must-read books for a friend going on a summer trip!
  • RAINBOW DASH: Accomplish an athletic goal with your best friend, like a 5K race or a hike!

My family will be doing an act of friendship on Instagram later today, so be sure to watch for us! Let me know if you do one, too!

Instant Coffee Makes Great Iced Coffee! My Best Instant Iced Coffee Recipe

July 28, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · Leave a Comment

Affiliate links included. I promote only what I use and love!

I consider myself to be a bit of an iced coffee expert. I drink it every single day, and most days I make it myself. I’ve tried cold brew, brew over ice, brewing with freshly ground beans vs. previously ground beans, and by using a pour over brewer.

And with necessity being the mother of all invention, I have also taught myself how to make iced coffee using instant coffee, because there are occasions where I find myself in need (it’s not a want, it’s a need) of some iced coffee and not in a place with a coffee shop or a coffee maker.

And now you know why I have instant coffee crystals in my purse at all times.

How to Make Instant Iced Coffee

Instant Iced Coffee

What you need to rock an instant coffee iced coffee is some instant coffee crystals, a little bit of hot water, and your desired extras (sweetener and cream).

Start with 1/4 cup of super hot water. You can get that from the lowest setting on your Keurig, you can get it by putting your coffee cup and water in the microwave, or you can get it through a tea kettle. The world is your oyster! 😉

Add a heaping tsp of instant coffee crystals to your hot water and give it a good stir. If you want to add a sweetener, now’s a good time to add that, too (my go-to is the liquid Stevia because I never have to worry about if it will dissolve quickly and because one tiny bottle lasts forever!).

Now it’s time to pile on the ice (as much as you like) and then add your creamer, if desired. It’s perfectly fine that a lot of the ice is going to melt. You created hot coffee that was far too concentrated, so it evens out to perfection. Now take a sip of the best instant iced coffee ever, friend, and never worry that you’ll be more than a few minutes away from this awesome drink again. 🙂

The Secret to Naturally Get Rid of Cellulite: 2 Things That Make All the Difference!

July 27, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · 1 Comment

I am sharing my own personal experience with naturally getting rid of cellulite, but I am not offering medical advice of any sort.  Please consult your physician should you have any medical questions or concerns. Essential oils have not been tested by the FDA.  Affiliate links included. I love promoting what rocks my world!

I’ve had quite a few follow-up questions from readers hit my inbox after publishing about essential oils for weight loss and how I use them to get ready for swimsuit season. Many folks asked me about how to deal with stubborn cellulite that seems to hang on for dear life, even in the midst of following a healthy diet and giving our bodies the exercise they need.

get rid of cellulite naturally

Good news, frustrated friends: I have some tips to offer! You can, in fact, naturally get rid of cellulite, but the reason that so many people don’t have success doing so is because they are going about it the wrong way, and because they are unwilling to be patient. If you want to get rid of cellulite quickly you are going to need to rethink your definition of quick. I’m just gonna put that out there first thing. Cellulite is really tough to get rid of and requires time and consistency with your approach. If you are willing to be consistent with  your essential oils for cellulite reduction, then you will see that you can, in fact, get rid of your cellulite. But if you try these suggestion for a week and then quit, expect to see pretty much no results.

Ok, so here’s the thing about fat cells: they serve as a toxic waste dump for the liver when the liver is having trouble processing all the toxins that come its way. Poor diet and environment can easily overwhelm the liver, and the fat cells are happy to hang on to all that excess junk. So one important thing most people don’t realize is that if you want to attack the fat cells, you need to attack the toxins. Essential oils LOVE to gobble up toxins, and that makes them a secret weapon in the fight against excess fat.

essential oils for cellulite reduction

I approach getting rid of cellulite naturally from the inside as well as the outside. Once a day I put 2 drops of Slique Essence into my water and drink it. This gets those great essential oils into my body to do the dirty work I need them to do on the inside. The essential oils in this blend include grapefruit, tangerine, spearmint, lemon and ocotea. These are some of the best essential oils for cellulite. Think of them each as hungry little oils who whose favorite food is the toxins sitting in the fat cells you want to eliminate!

Additionally, I use Cel-Lite Magic, a massage oil put out by Young Living, to attack cellulite from the outside (want a non-MLM alternative? I get it! This one has great reviews). I find this oil, over time, to help with the appearance of cellulite from the outside, which is what we are all looking to improve. But again, don’t forget about all those fat cells you can’t see! I personally use this on the back of my thighs and on my rear, as these are the two places where my cellulite is the most obvious. I’ve heard from other women that they enjoy using it on their stretch marks, as well. I recommend applying this product just before you go work out, and if you aren’t hitting the gym, just put it on at the start of your day so that as you move around and exercise naturally, the oils are in place to fight hard for you and to help amplify any exercise you might be doing that day to also encourage excess fat to take a hike.

Drinking a lot of water is also critical any time you are trying to help your body flush out toxins. The essential oils will be working hard to break down those fat cells by way of breaking down toxins, but you need to provide plenty of water to help the trash get swept out of the body and not just reabsorbed. For bonus points, incorporate dry brushing into your daily routine to help your lymphatic system perform at an optimal level. If you are wondering, “what is dry brushing?” just click the link to find out!

If you are ready to fight your cellulite, I strongly recommend Slique Essence and Cel-Lite as part of your daily regimen. It is so important to be consistent and to plan on doing this for at least a month, if not more. Cellulite wins so many battles because it takes an entire war and not just one battle to defeat it. But you absolutely, positively can! Make use of the amazing power of essential oils as a key weapon, friends.

Back to School with the Learning Care Group (Target Gift Card Giveaways!!!)

July 26, 2016 · by Tiffany Merritt · Leave a Comment

This week I purchased all of the school supplies my kiddos will need for the upcoming school year. I can’t believe it, but it’s already back-to-school time for many of us all over the country!
And as you start to prepare (and start to figure out how to work in all the extra purchases into your budget), I want to encourage you to come hang out with me on Twitter this Thursday, July 28th, from 1-2pm EST. I’m going to be chatting with the Learning Care Group (the folks behind several incredible early education groups such as La Petite Academy), and we’ll be sharing some tips for starting off the school year right and bringing a smile to your child’s face as they transition from one season to the next (remember: transitions can be tough for little ones, so a little prep work is key!).
We’re also going to be sharing why LCG schools are a great place to help your child thrive, too! Check out these statistics from La Petite Academy and see for yourself how little minds are growing!
lpa stats-page-001
One other important thing: we are going to be giving away $25 Target gift cards every 10 minutes during the party, which will be so great to have as you work through you supply list!
Want to party with us? Great! All you need to do is be on Twitter starting at 1pm EST and be sure to follow @tiffanyblogs and @LaPetiteAcademy. We’ll be using the hashtag #Back2SchoolSmiles. See you there!
