Every time we are preparing for a long car trip, my husband and I seem to struggle a bit to come up with things to pack for the kids to play. The iPad is an obvious choice, but we don’t want them watching videos for 5 straight hours, so we need some other activities. We usually pack a coloring book for each child and some crayons, and we also pack some smaller stuffed animals or figurines (such as My Little Pony). But all of these items, for the most part, seem to only hold their attention for about 1/10th as long as we had hoped they would.
The struggle is very, very real.
So when Find It! Games reached out to me to tell me about some of their concentration building games, I was very intrigued. Something that will actually hold a child’s attention for a long period of time? I’ll be the judge of that.
We were sent the Find It! Mythical Creatures edition, and it’s a tube filled with tiny beads, as well as 41 hidden treasures waiting to be found. The list alone will be fun to work through, as you will likely have to look up a few of them online just to know what they look like! Here’s the list of what you’ll find inside every tube:
- Basilisk
- Bigfoot
- Centaur
- Cerberus
- Chupacabra
- Coin for Charon
- Cupid’s Arrow
- Cyclops Eye
- Dragon
- Elf Hat
- Fairy
- Gargoyle
- Genie’s Lamp
- Giant
- Gnome
- Graeae’s Tooth
- Griffin
- Harpy
- Hippocampus
- Hippogriff
- Jackalope
- Jersey Devil
- Kraken
- Leprechaun Gold Coin
- Loch Ness
- Manticore
- Medusa
- Mermaid
- Minotaur
- Mothman Eye
- Mystery Item
- Pegasus
- Penny
- Phoenix Feather
- Salamander
- Silver Bullet
- Sphinx
- Tree Spirit
- Troll
- Uicorn
- Vampire Bat
Once you understand what you are looking for, the fun really begins! I have to say, the kids actually will sit still for quite some time seeking out the different items! This makes it the absolute perfect item to break out on long car trips or even plane trips, as it will fit inside a kid’s backpack as part of the carry-on. I also think it’s a great option for quiet time (which is what I call nap time now that my kids don’t nap anymore…mama still needs 20 minutes of quiet!). I’ve reached for it a few times, myself. It’s really fun to sit down and just search for a bit!
Find It! Games has 12 different themes and is available on the Find It! website for $19.95, as well as on Amazon.
