Thanks to Kohl’s for providing products for review and the giveaway item. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I hope you enjoyed some of the Elf on the Shelf ideas I shared with you last week. I’ve got a few more fun (and easy!) ways you can have fun with your Elf on the Shelf in today’s post, and none of them involve making terrible messes or elaborate schemes. I like to keep it simple around here.
When my girls woke up this morning they found our Owen being just a smidge naughty (he’s playing in our television cords) but they also discovered that he has a new outfit! Kohl’s has the cutest Claus Couture collection, with several fun outfit options for your elf and for your elf pet!
Owen has also been such a thoughtful house guest this week by bringing me, his hostess, a gift! Owen found this adorable “the elves made me do it” kitchen towel set at Kohl’s (and I saw his receipt…he got such a good deal!).
And next week, he’s going to surprise the girls one morning with a super fun gift just for them!
Yes, this fingerpaint bathtub set will be messy, but the kids will be in the bath, so they will wash off easily (and so will their canvas!).
We are having so much fun with Owen, and I am really loving this new tradition we are creating of having our elf provide some new fun holiday decor each year. If you don’t have an Elf on the Shelf, they really can be a whole lot of fun, so think about getting one. Our elf keeps us highly entertained. He even does a great Adele impression (call him Adelelf!).
Win it!: One lucky Stuff Parents Need reader will win a $100 gift card to Kohl’s. You can get your house all decked out with Elf on the Shelf gear and other holiday decor! 🙂

The Elf could be having a snowball (mini marshmallows) fight with another toy!
I placed mine on the dog kennel and it looked like he was trying to let the dog out. He had a screwdriver in his hand.
I have placed mine on my ceiling fan once. We had it one slow and the kids really got a kick out of that one.
Dont have elf on the shelf but probably would put him in by some cookies trying to eat them.
Our elf doesn’t get into too much trouble, but finds a new hiding spot nearly every day – top of the clock, watching tv, hanging from the fan, in a decorative mug above the kitchen cupboards…
We don’t have an elf on the shelf yet for my Grandson, he is only 6 months old. My idea is to place him on top of the fridge eating apples.
I think placing the elf on top of the fridge is neat.
never had an elf on a shelf but would look good on the mantle
I would place the Elf outside a window, looking in.
Have him in a Halloween scene
I wish this was around when my kids were little — it looks like a fun tradition to start. One of the more creative ones that I saw posted by one of my friends was to have him ziplining from a string from the top of the fridge to a cabinet door across the kitchen.
Setting him up to make him look like he is baking cookies
I would say placing elf by stove with cookies on top of stove:)
i do not but i love the frozen idea. freeze him in a block of ice near elsa. so cool.
We had our elf holding a straw inside the fridge trying to open the orange juice!
I don’t do elf on a shelf but I saw a really cool one earlier where the elf was frozen in a block of ice with a Elsa doll next to it with her arms out.
My kids are too old now, but if we had an Elf on the Shelf back in the day, they would have kidnapped him and held him for ransom! Now, I would put him in my husband’s bathroom, just for fun!
Our elf likes to hang out by the window
I don’t have an elf, but I’d put him in a drawer for the kids to find.
I like to set him up with my kids board games or with their headphones on listening to music. It’s fun for them to find him like that.
I have awful ideas for hiding him but a friend did suggest we hide him in a cereal box and creare a scavenger hunt to find him so I might try that.
I’d place him beside my gnomes (by Gnoments). Thanks for the giveaway!
We don’t have an elf, but if we did, I would probably put him on the Christmas tree one day.
My husband had a cute idea last year…our elf got on the remote control helicopter and crashed into the Christmas tree 🙂
I would love to place the Elf on the Shelf on my daughters’ laptop to see when she wakes up.
I would like the Elf on the self to do fun stuff like riding a train around the Christmas tree or make a snow scene inside where he is playing in the snow.
I like to place my elf in obscure places like laundry basket or on my children chairs.
Instead of our elf doing “naughty” things, we have him land in places with reminders. For example, my oldest son has 4 of his permanent teeth that have just come in (the front 4). We have been talking to him about the importance of brushing his teeth really well, as they are the only ones he is going to have from now on:) So last night our elf landed on his light in the bathroom holding some flossers. On the counter he left a new Yoda Spinbrush and Star Wars toothpaste.
