Are you waking up first thing in the morning with allergy problems? Sneezing, trouble breathing through your nose, itchy, watery eyes, etc?
There are many reasons why this could be happening, but there’s one culprit that most people never even consider: your mattress.
Mattresses are exceptionally good at housing all sorts of things you might be allergic to, such as dust mites and pet dander. Vacuuming your mattress often can help with this matter a little bit, if you can remember to stay on top of it. Which I, personally, cannot.
A better alternative? Keep those allergens from ever touching your mattress at all. The way to do this is to get an anti-allergen mattress cover, like the one SureFit sent my family to check out. We put the anti-allergen mattress cover on my daughter’s thick twin mattress because we have been noticing some allergy problems for her that tend to peak in the night or first thing in the morning. After considering the fact that our cats really love to sleep in her bed with her, we realized that we needed to vacuum her mattress and then add the SureFit Anti Allergen Mattress Pad to keep things in check from now on.
Putting the mattress pad on was extremely easy, and that’s thanks to the special way SureFit products conform to the corners. They have plenty of stretch while still giving a snug fit. I was really impressed, as I find that most any time you have to fit something directly on top of the mattress you are in for a bit of wrangling. Not the case with this product!
The mattress pad protects against those allergens while still providing a breathable layer, which makes it very comfortable to rest on. And it’s machine washable and can be tumble dried, which makes care easy, too.
One question I immediately had about the mattress pad was how often I should wash it. My online research indicates that as a general rule, it’s a good idea to wash it once a season (so about 4 times a year). Basically, when the seasons change, wash your mattress pad!
Great Price for Such a Helpful Product
As we head into spring allergy season here in Chattanooga, I expect the addition of this anti-allergen mattress pad to help our daughter’s allergies improve a little bit. It can’t do much about the pollen in the air, but it can keep it from settling into her mattress if we open up her windows on beautiful days, and it is certainly going to keep dust mites and pet dander from adding fuel to the fire, so to speak. At $59.99 for a twin, the price point is fair because it is going to save quite a bit of misery over the 5 years or so that we will use it before replacing it. That comes to just $12/year!
Have you ever thought about the allergies building up on your mattress? If not, I’d definitely suggest getting an anti-allergen mattress pad like the one we are using from SureFit.
